On the occasion of World Support Staff Day, established by Education International (EI), we wish to highlight the essential contribution of support and professional staff to the smooth functioning of the education system at all levels.

Every day, in schools, centers, CEGEPs, universities, and private educational institutions, these workers provide essential services in support of the educational success of students, as well as for the quality of work life for all staff. Their expertise, commitment, and dedication are fundamental pillars of education in Quebec.

Under the theme “Proud to support education each and every day,” we want to highlight the strategic role played by support and professional staff in a time when the education system is facing significant challenges. These individuals make a tangible contribution to educational success and the fulfillment of the institutions’ mission.

A Commitment Driven Predominantly by Women

 This day also provides an opportunity to highlight the remarkable commitment of women, who make up a significant portion of support and professional staff. We find them playing a wide variety of roles, all of them vital to supporting students, organizing educational services, and maintaining inclusive and safe work environments. Their contribution deserves full and complete recognition, commensurate with their daily impact on the education system.

Recognition Requires Action

 The federations emphasize that recognizing the work of support and professional staff must translate into fair working conditions, genuine appreciation of their expertise, and a clear political will to strengthen and sustain these essential jobs. Investing in these staff members is a direct investment in the quality and accessibility of education.

On this World Support Staff Day, organizations invite the public, decision-makers and network partners to take a fresh look at those who, each and every day, support education with pride, competence and humanity.
